Session
The Session is the primary governing body of The First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford and is responsible for policy, program, personnel, and membership. Through it's own actions and those delegated to other boards and committees, the Session provides programs for worship, church school, mission, congregational ministry, and plan for growth and change, and conduct stewardship and financial matters. The Session consists of 25 members elected on a rotating basis. Session meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.
Board of Trustees
The Trustees are responsible for the management and maintenance of the real properties of the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford. Legally, trustees are officers of a corporation established to manage church properties and the entire board operates under Session authority. Typically, the Trustees engage in facilities planning, budgeting, fund raising, expense disbursements, and property maintenance. There are 18 trustees, each elected to 3 year terms on a rotating basis. The Board meets on the second Thursday of each month.
Board of Deacons
The Deacons are officers of the church who serve God through services to others. Scripture describes the Deacons role as one of "sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ". The Board consists of a Moderator, two Youth Deacons, and forty Zone Deacons who serve as liaisons between the church and member families within a designated geographic area. Each Deacon also serves on one of the Board Committees, which include Sunday Services, Care Givers, Communication, Parish Life, Parish Zone, Fellowship and Education. Deacons are elected for a three year term with one third of the Board elected each year. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month.
